Why a site about skin tone tracks two peptides that could not work more differently — and what it will not tell you.
What this site covers
brightpeptides is an editorial research digest built around a single question: what does the published literature actually say about peptides studied for skin tone, texture and pigmentation? We currently cover two: GHK-Cu, a copper-binding tripeptide studied for collagen and matrix repair, and Melanotan II, a synthetic hormone analog studied for pigmentation and — separately — appetite and sexual function. We picked this pairing deliberately, not because the two compounds resemble each other, but because they represent two genuinely different routes to the same shelf space: one slow and structural, one fast and hormonal, with very different evidence bases and very different risk profiles. Reading them side by side, rather than in isolation, is the point of the site; see the comparison page for the direct version of that argument.
How we read the evidence
Every factual claim on this site traces to a numbered citation in our references list — a peer-reviewed study, a clinical trial publication, or a documented case report, with a DOI or PubMed link wherever one exists. We try to be specific about what kind of evidence backs a given claim: a randomized, placebo-controlled trial in humans is not the same thing as a case report, and a case report is not the same thing as a forum post — and we label each one as what it is. Where a finding comes from a community of people using a compound rather than from a controlled study, we say so explicitly, using the words "anecdotal, not clinical evidence," and we never attach a dose to that kind of report. Where the literature is thin, contested, or simply hasn't been studied yet — and for Melanotan II in particular, that gap is large — we say that plainly rather than filling it in with confidence the record doesn't support.
What this isn't
brightpeptides sells nothing. It is not a pharmacy, a clinic, a supplement shop or a peptide vendor, and no manufacturer or supplier pays for placement here. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and no page recommends a dose, schedule or route of administration for any individual — where a dose appears, it is reporting what a cited study used, not a suggestion. Melanotan II in particular has a documented history of serious adverse events reported in the medical literature; anyone considering any peptide for cosmetic or research purposes should read the safety sections on the relevant page in full and talk to a licensed clinician, not a website, about their own situation.
